Join Heritage Winnipeg for the Winnipeg Railway Museum's Railways Days 2019! Featuring railway displays from throughout Maniotba!


Climb the stairs of Winnipeg's historic Union Station and discover over 100 years of Winnipeg's rail history and the railways that made the city great! Over 37,500 square feet of railway equipment, displays, history and artifacts. The museum features major displays and equipment from the CNR, CPR, City of Winnipeg Railways and other who played a role in the development of Winnipeg.

Admission by dontaion with 100% of donations going towards the procurement, preservation and presentation of our railway heritage!



The museum is operated by volunteers from the Midwestern Rail Association Inc., a non-profit charity registered with the City of Winnipeg and Revenue Canada. The mandate of the museum is to procure, preserve and present the rail history of the area bound by the Lakehead in the east, the Rockies in the west, St. Paul, Minnesota in the south and the Hudson Bay in the north.

Held annually on the last weekend of May, Doors Open Winnipeg is a FREE city-wide celebration of Winnipeg’s distinct spaces, outstanding architecture and vibrant history. Each year, visitors are encouraged to explore Winnipeg’s past at over 100 unique events and tours located throughout the city. Since 2004, over 300, 000 visitors and countless volunteers have made Doors Open Winnipeg one of the city’s essential spring events.

This year we are excited to bring in a new mix of tours and locations, plus a cast of returning favourites. Doors Open Winnipeg will also be commemorating Manitoba 150 will special exhibits and tours. Be sure to join us for our rescheduled 2020 event, now on September 12th and 13th, 2020!
